FOR STATE TITLE
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - California rallied their squad through the
consolation rounds to narrowly pass New York and capture the 20th
NHSCA Senior National Championships at the Virginia Convention Center
in Virginia Beach. California tallied 186.5 points as New York
finished with 177.5. New York had sent four into the finals with Kyle Dake
(224-14) emerging as their only champion winning 5-2 for the 140 lb. national
title. Kyle defeated 5x New Mexico state champion Max Ortega to claim his
third individual national crown. The other finalists for the New York
contingent included Ian Paddock (268-7) in 135 lb. class, Zach Clemente (209-25)
in 145 lb. class and John Greisheimer (189-15) in 152 lb. class.
